Gospel Preacher In East Alabama & West Georgia
It was my privilege to conduct a gospel meeting in Collinsville, Alabama in June, 2013. While there some of the brethren were talking about preachers of the past who influenced the churches in the area. The name J.C. Putnam came up time and again in conversation. Brother Putnam did much work in east Alabama and west Georgia in his life. More information is needed to put together a lasting tribute to him, his life and influence. If anyone has any information they would care to share, and make available for this site, it would certainly enhance the memory of this good man.
Directions To The Grave of J.C. Putnam
From Atlanta, Georgia, head west on I-20 to Exit 5, Hwy. 100 and head north. Go to Tallapoosa and turn left on Hwy 78. Cross over into Alabama and turn right on Hwy. 49. Head north about 15 mile to the community of Borden Springs. Turn left on Co. Rd. 230, then left again on Co. Rd. 225. Head to the end of the road and the church building entrance will be to your left. Go up the drive into the church parking lot, and the cemetery will be on your left. The Putnam plot is located at the rear of the cemetery on the right. Several of Putnam relative are born here. While at the grave, be sure to visit the grave of another gospel preacher from the area, Washington Bacon, not far from this cemetery.
