The Life Of Felix Harlan
Felix Harlan was born February 8, 1876 in Warren, Knox County, Kentucky. He was the first son of Edward Thomas Harlan (1837-1909) and Annie Rebecca Ellis (1852-1922). He had two older sisters from a previous marriage, but had nine younger siblings. In his youth, the family moved to Rockfield, just west of Bowling Green, and was his family home the rest of his days. Edward served in the CSA during the Civil War as Pvt Co. 8, 4 McLemore's Tenn.
Growing up in farm life, Felix learned the importance of hard work. After leaving home he supported himself working on farms in southern Kentucky and Central Tennessee. But his greater love was preaching the gospel of Jesus. His education is uncertain as of this writing, but there were educational opportunities near him as Potter Bible College was being operated in nearby Bowling Green in his early adult life.
On June 14, 1911, at the age of 35, Felix married Sallie Williams of Morrison, Tennessee. She was a member of the church of Christ. H. C. Shoulders performed the ceremony. Sallie died within a couple years of their marriage, October 28, 1913. She was 37 years of age, having been born March 15, 1876. He was buried near Morrison in the Chestnut Grove Church of Christ Cemetery.
After his wife’s death, Felix struggled in his health, and may have had what some would have called a nervous breakdown. While preaching near Tampa, Florida sometime in 1914, he struggled with mental break. He died in Christian County, Kentucky, November 24, 1920, at the age of 42. His body was interred in the family plot in Still Cemetery near his Rockfield, Kentucky home.

Directions To Grave
The Harlan Family plot lies in the Still Cemetery in Rockfield, just west of Bowling Green in Warren County, Kentucky. Traveling in southern Kentucky on I-65 head to Bowling Green and take I-165 toward Owensboro. Go two exits and get off at Hwy 68-80 Russellville exit. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and head toward Russellville. Turn right at Huck's Food and Fuel (Hwy. 432). Go about a mile and the Still Cemetery will be on your left. The Harlan plot is to the left rear of the cemetery.
