Prewitte Copeland
1922-1981

Richard Prewitte
Copeland was born March 27, 1922 in Dasher, Georgia. He was the younger brother
of J.V. Copeland, Jr. He was baptized by Leon Colston, August, 1932. He
married Betty Sue Traylor, June 11, 1949. They had two children, R.P., Jr. and
Katherine Sue. He began preaching in Dasher, Ga. in 1939. He trained at David
Lipscomb College, Harding College, and Peabody College. He
served churches at Hahira, Georgia and Morven, Georgia. He was teacher and
principle of Georgia Christian School for eleven years and president of the
school for four years. He was known and loved by
the people of South Georgia.

Dasher Cemetery
The
Copelands are buried in the Dasher Cemetery, Dasher, Georgia. Dasher
is just south of Valdosta, and is the home of Georgia Christian School and
Raintree Village Children's Home. Heading south on I-75 take Exit 11 and go
east. Turn right on Carroll Ulmer Rd. Stay on Carroll Ulmer until you get to the
railroad tracks. While heading down the road the track should be to your left,
and you will see the cemetery on the right. Just past the cemetery to the left
is Johnston Rd. Raintree Village is located on Johnston Rd.
