Brief Sketch On The Life Of
Hulen Jackson
Hulen Leon Jackson was born in Dennison, Texas, August 22, 1913. He
married Guille Wallace, the daughter of Foy E. Wallace,
Sr., in 1938.
They had three children, Tempe, HuLene, and Foy Oliver.
Hulen was baptized by T.E. Milholland in 1928. He began preaching in
Dennison, Texas in 1930. He attended Abilene Christian College
(University). Later he attended Southeastern Oklahoma Teachers College,
and finally at Austin College.
His preaching career involved work with the Commerce, Texas church from
1934 to 1935; the San Saba, Texas church from 1935-1940; the Shawnee,
Oklahoma church from 1940-1942; the Trinity Heights church of Christ in
Dallas, Texas from 1942-1947; the Preston Road church in Dallas from
1947-1952, and then went back to Trinity Heights in Dallas in 1952. He
held meetings far and wide including Abilene, Topeka, Kansas, Denver,
Colorado, Portales, New Mexico, and Houston, Texas.
He
entered the debating area when necessary. He debated a representative of
the "Jesus Only" cult of Lometa, Texas in 1938. He also did radio work
on a Dallas station for five years.
Hulen wrote for brotherhood papers including Firm Foundation,
Gospel Advocate, Christian Bible Teacher, and Power For
Today. He wrote books including: Can a Man Fall From Grace,
published by Firm Foundation in 1937 and Why I Can Not Vote For A
Roman Catholic, published by Voice Of Freedom, in 1959.
He believed strongly in the teaching of God's word. He help organize and
administer some of the first teachers training schools in the church,
and served for years as a trustee on the board of the Bell Trust, a
program that financially supports mission work all around the globe.
Hulen Leon Jackson passed from this life on the last day of 1997, and
his remains were laid to rest in the Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas,
Texas.

is buried in the Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas,
Texas. Just south of Dallas on East I-35 take the Laureland Exit
420. and travel east. From the exit you should be able to see
the cemetery as it is adjacent to the east side of the freeway.
