Upper Spencer Meetinghouse
This little church is steeped in
the Restoration Movement, having enjoyed the preaching of "Raccoon"
John Smith, and many other well known preachers of his day. When the question of
the instrument arose, the Upper Spencer church elected to use the instrument,
and was inclined in that direction for many years. Finally the church failed,
closing it doors. Within a brief time, non-instrumental brothers moved back into
the old meetinghouse, and it exists to this day, a faithful congregation of the
Church of Christ. If visiting in the Mt. Sterling, Kentucky area, don't miss
visiting the old Upper Spencer Meetinghouse.
