Brief Sketch On The Life Of
Glenn L. Wallace
Glenn L. Wallace was born in Montague County, Texas June 2, 1907. He was
married to Leola Duckworth. They had one child. He was baptized by E.S.
Fitzgerald in 1923. He began his preaching career in Abilene, Texas in
1925.
He attended Abilene Christian College where he received his B.A. degree.
He also attended Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.
Some of the churches he worked with through the years included the
Emporia Ave. Church of Christ in Wichita, Kansas from 1931-1937; and in
for a time in Springfield, Missouri. He then went to work with the
Central church of Christ in Cleburne, Texas from 1937-1941; the Central
Church of Christ in Los Angeles, California from 1941-1943.
The family moved back to Abilene in 1946 where he began working with the
College church.
He was a regular contributor to the Christian Worker, the
Gospel Advocate, and the Firm Foundation.
He did a great deal of evangelist work through the years working mostly
in the mid-west states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. He also
did a six-month effort in the British Isles establishing and settling
works there in progress.
He was from a family of at least eleven preacher, including two of his
brothers who preached.
Glenn passed from this life on August 14, 1978. Leola followed September
8, 1994. They are buried together in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery near
the graves of R.C. Bell and
Jesse P. Sewell.

In Abilene, take I-20 to Exit 290, Hwy. 332. As you head south from the exit
you will need immediately to turn right, heading west on E. North 10th
Street. Head out about a mile and you will see cemeteries on your left and
right after the Railroad crossing. Enter
the main entrance to your right, then take the first right. Go to the second
left. Then go past midway to the end of the road and begin looking
in to your right a few rows. The Bell plot will be facing you.
