David Allen Self

1856-1896

David Allen Self was the grandson of David C. Speegle. His mother was Adelia Honeywood Speegle, and his father was John Matthew Gilbert Self. He served the church of Christ at Brushy Creek, near Cullman, Alabama as minister, and teaching elder. The Selfs, Speegles, Bates and Guthery families did much good in this location through the course of the late 19th and early 20th centuried.

Directions To The Grave of David A. Self

In North Central Alabama, take I-65 to Exit 308, and head west of Cullman on Hwy. 278. Go five miles and turn left on County Road 813. Go 6.3 miles turn left on County Rd. 222. Go 2.7 miles and turn right on Co. Road 346. Go less than a mile and turn right on County Rd. 310. Go 1.2 miles and turn left on Church House Rd. Brushy Creek Church of Christ and Cemetery is located here. The Speegles and Selfs are on top of the hill toward the center of the cemetery.
